TVFHS 2013 AGM
The latest edition of The Tay Valley Family Historian gives notice of the Society’s AGM.
Beginners’ Classes
The dates for the autumn Beginners’ Classes have been announced. Because some prospective family historians have found the usual evening classes inconvenient, we are also offering a weekend course this year.
Subject to there being sufficient interest, the evening course will commence on Wednesday 23 October 2013 at 7pm. As usual there will be six two-hour classes.
It is intended that the weekend course will take place on November 2nd and 3rd, running from 10am to 4pm each day.
The course fee will be maintained at the previous rate of £30.00, with the option of Society membership of £15.00.
Free access to records
There is free access to Irish Birth, Death and Marriage Records on findmypast from Thursday 27 June to Sunday 30 June. Registration is required, but that, too, is free.
PS. Having tried it out, I find that many (all?) items are already free on Family Search.
Dunkeld Chapter House Museum has recently renovated a disused public toilet block to house its extensive, and ever growing, archive collection (The Courier, Highland Perthshire Comment, Avocado Sweet). It is located at the northwest corner of the Square (The Cross) in Dunkeld, adjacent to the building known as “Duchess Anne”.
![]() Clare and Murray Nicoll visited the Archives recently and found the building to look quite modern, as can be seen in these photographs. In the Archive holdings, there are photographs of the area, school classes and news items, as well as Kirk and school records concerning the Parishioners. Although the staff have not yet completed the list of holdings, below is a sample of the items held which would be of interest to a Family History Society researcher. |
