The society's AGM will be held in the Glasite Hall on 26th September, and doors will open at 7.00 p.m. for those attending in person.  The meeting will be a hybrid online event and online attendees can join from 7.15 for 7.30 start.

Notice of the AGM and the agenda were in the last Historian and are on our website.  This is a members-only meeting and the formal business of the AGM will start at 7.30.

To register to attend via Zoom please let us know at tayvalleyfamilyhistorysociety@gmail.com by Monday 16th September.

Any nominations for Council will need to be received by TVFHS by 15th August.

The business will be followed by a guest speaker.  From the Court of the Lord Lyon we welcome Sheriff George Way of Plean CStJ FRSA, His Majesty’s Rothesay Herald of Arms.

Sheriff Way has given us a title and short description of his talk, which features the green Dragons of Dundee's coat of arms - what are they, why green, and how do they relate to the history of Dundee?

Four Legs Good, Two Legs Better

An analysis of the symbolism of the coat of arms of the City of Dundee with particular reference to the heraldic beasts that support the shield.  An extrapolation from this to a more general discussion on the role and significance of heraldic supporters.
